The Failed Estate, a blog about media and journalism, is an open forum and comments are welcome. After all, the intention of the blog is to act as a fulcrum to debate.
As always, though, and entirely consistent with legacy media editorial policies, there are rules of engagement:
- All comments are vetted before publication, just as are letters to the editor in any newspaper.
- Comments must be on topic.
- Anonymous comments are discouraged.
- The editor has the discretion not to publish comments if they contain abuse, stereotyping, aggression, personal attacks or are overly long or repetitious.
- Hobbyhorses and obsessions are discouraged. Make your point and move on.
- If you disagree with non-publication of your comment, no correspondence will be entered in to. My blog, my discretion. That’s what editors do.

Hi Jim, I have set up my own blog. Want to have a comments policy just like yours. 90% like yours. 90% your text. Can I get your permission to use it coz I love it.

Pleased to have discovered this blog – very important to have discussion of the lamentable state of Australia’s media.
As a minor financial supporter of the project it was a bonus to find a link to “Outfoxed ten years on”. Doesn’t seem like a decade has passed. Brave New Films still making great material and still worthy of support.
